The Large Fire Crash Rescue Station is a fire station with the capacity to house 12 emergency response vehicles. It has six apparatus bay doors on either side of the building enabling immediate response to both the airfield and rest of the base. It houses all of the station’s vehicles and equipment, 24-hour living quarters for the crew, space for reserve fire fighters and office space for other administrative tasks. Supporting facilities include utilities, fire protection and alarm systems, information systems, heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
The building consists of painted stucco and split faced CMU blocks exterior wall finish, standing seam metal roofing system with CMU block and metal stud interior partitions on a concrete slab foundation. The apparatus bay has a higher roof elevation than the remainder of the building. Pile foundations were utilized in the final design due to liquefaction potential. The apparatus bay is approximately 10,000 SF and the entire building encloses just over 26,000 SF.
Various site amenities, access roads, exterior lighting, parking lots and utilities were included to support the new Fire Crash Rescue Station.
