Michael J. Hayes, S.E.

Mr. Hayes has an extensive background in the preparation of plans, specifications and construction support services. He specializes in the design of elegant, cost-effective solutions to complex and unique structures and their components. His background also includes experience prior to Burkett & Wong, reviewing buildings and bridge designs for the City of San Diego's Building Department, which helps him interpret the building code from a unique perspective. A San Diego native, Mike started his career in the construction industry in the sixth grade when he was ‘allowed’ to start using power tools and work for his father’s construction business. He continued in construction until his career path veered toward college and, finally, engineering. This extensive work experience helps Mike think outside the box, and provide solutions that are constructible, yet efficient.
